VBAC mama birthed her 7lb 1oz baby girl into her own hands after 42 hours of labor yesterday afternoon.
First-time mama birthed her 7lb 4oz baby girl into her partner’s hands under the water this afternoon. It was 23 hours since the birth yesterday.
Busy time!
The response to my call for a new apprentice has been overwhelming. All across the country I’ve received emails from women who are spectacular and smart. I’m not sure how I can start this process! Baby steps, for sure.
Dear Pamela~
Thank you for being such a wonderful inspiration to families and midwives around the world with your practice and your blog. I wish you luck in finding your next apprentice. How fortunate they will be!
I have been reading through some of your older blogs and I have a few questions about routine checking of hemoglobin with a hemoglobinometer. Do you ever check hemoglobin? If so with what instrument? What is your protocol wrt checking for anemia in general? I have been having a frustrating time in my practice with checking and am ready to punt the darn Stat-Site out the door. I do not do routine antenatal hem checks. I have a Stat-Site though and use it when someone is having signs or symptoms of anemia.
Thanks for any advice and wisdom you offer.
Brenda
