Please pass this on:
This video is geared towards fathers, has many father’s experiences, but it is a vital message for us all.
It is so very important. We will not change this world without changing how we treat babies at the moment of birth.
Please, hands off those babies that are making the transition well. […]

This is off the topic of birth, but timely for women to be aware of. In the last five to ten years, there has been an increase in surgical procedures to alter a woman’s sexual organs.
It starts with the commonly-known breast enlargement, lift, etc. I think I’m pretty numb to that already, as […]

The truth is, we don’t. We don’t organize it to be nice. We don’t organize it to be palatable. We don’t organize it to be ‘good’ women so that the press and others will hear us ‘better’.

In my midwifery school, it was VERY rare to see a woman of color. In my experiences in the birth activism/lactivism world, again, not only is it nearly all white women but the class issue plays […]

so i read it in one night. sure it meant that i went to bed at 4am, but my daughter had two friends over for a sleepover, so it wasn’t difficult.
(and in the middle of reading, a couple that i agreed to provide unassisted birth support for called me - ….a girl!)
i loved […]

I have to say that I’m always fully supportive of women to make their own, informed choices. I just need to point out that I am grateful - eternally, blissfully grateful - that my view of birth is vastly different than what is seen in the hospital. Even in “normal” hospital births.
Barb Herrera […]

From the Journal of Family Practice, way back in 2005
So why are we still using them?
(I disagree about the benefits of a 50gram glucose tolerance test in pregnancy - I still stand by the use of a glucometer for women with concerns about blood sugar in pregnancy as a more effective, and more user-friendly […]
